Australia has the strictest standards in the world for the manufacturing of infant formula which means for our product to even make it to the shelves, we have gone through countless testing and safety protocols to ensure that our formula is a nutritionally complete food source for infants. Legally, all infant formulas sold in Australia must meet the Food Standards Australia and New Zealand requirements meaning they contain all of the key macro and micro nutrients required for the healthy growth and development of an infant.

As additional steps, we move all of our products through a critical review process, where we’ve established a panel of paediatricians, nutritionists, midwives and of course, real mums and families, in addition to becoming active members of the Australian Infant Nutrition Council.

All Sprout Organic products are manufactured in Sydney and Queensland, Australia. Where possible we source local Australian ingredients as well.

Yes, Sprout Organic formula and Junior Protein tins are fully recyclable and BPA-free. This includes our lids and scoops.

Our infant formula has a very neutral and slightly sweet taste being rice-based which is quite palatable for young taste buds.

Yes, all of our products are certified by Vegan Australia.

As a company we refer to ourselves as plant-based, and we’ve created our formulas and healthy snack products for anyone who wants a positive choice.

In today's modern world, it seems a bit backwards that there aren’t more plant-based alternatives for children, so we took it upon ourselves to bring some new and innovative products to market that will hopefully help a lot of families.

Veganism is as much a belief system as a dietary choice, and we understand our products have a hugely high affinity to a vegan lifestyle and we embrace that, hence certifying all of our products with Vegan Australia. We are all about providing choices for parents.

We do not include dairy as an ingredient in any of our products, including our infant formula. We do not claim “free-from” dairy as our manufacturing facilities process other products which contain dairy, and despite our best cleaning efforts, there is a small chance of cross-contamination so we prefer to be 100% transparent about this.

If your little one has a sensitivity or intolerance to dairy but is not anaphylactic, from a product perspective, our formula should be suitable. As with all things, we always recommend consulting with your trusted health professional to decide what is best suited to you and your little one.

Folic acid (vitamin B9) is inherently synthetic, being the synthetic version of folate. Where it is naturally occurring it should be labelled as folate.

We are governed by FSANZ code 2.9.1 (Infant formula). As such, the code is very specific around folic acid (vitamin B9) as being a mandatory inclusion.

The importance of vitamin B9 is that it is an essential vitamin in its role around cell growth and the formation of red blood cells.

Folic acid is used rather than folate, as folate is not stable in soluble powder, it can be supplied in capsules and tablets because it is coated to maintain stability. For these reasons above it is a necessary inclusion in our infant formula.

We recently published a blog on this topic to help clear up any health concerns surrounding canola oil.

Our company policy is to source our organic ingredients from Australia where possible, and manufacture all of our products in Australia. In some instances, where seasonal or availability issues prevent us from sourcing Australian produce, we import raw ingredients from trusted international partners. Sadly organic rice, a common ingredient in our products, is not grown organically in Australia so we have to source this internationally.

We adhere to the HACCP protocol which means we know the co-operative regions and/or growers directly supplying us.

Sprout Infant Formula is different to other formulas in the way it dissolves during preparation. The ideal temperature would be post boiling at about 50-70 degrees celsius to achieve optimal solubility (it dissolves better in slightly warmer water), and it is suggested to shake the bottle for a few more seconds than you would normally before serving to bub. Before feeding your little one, check the temperature by dripping a little onto the inside of your wrist. It should feel lukewarm, not hot. If it still feels hot, cool some more before feeding.

We recommend NUK First Choice No Colic + Temperature Control bottles.

Optimal: Tested & recommended for use with Sprout Organic Infant and Toddler Formula.

Safe: The temperature of the contents of the bottle makes it change colour: if the formula is too hot, the normally blue indicator will turn white.

Comfortable: With its soft zone, the teat optimally adapts to a baby's mouth for a natural sucking sensation.

BPA-free.

Although every bubba is different, we have tested these bottles on our own babies and they work great.

Unopened, our formulas store for 24 months. Once opened, it is recommended that the formula is used within four weeks.

Our products are now available in stores in New Zealand. Please go to our stockist page and type in your Suburb to see stockists near you https://sproutorganic.com.au/pages/store-locator

Please be sure to read our shipping policy and refund policy before you place an order.

If you haven't already, please join our mailing list for exclusive information on launch dates and international expansions.

Once mixed with pre-boiled water at a temperature between 50-70 degrees celsius (for optimal solubility), it is safe to store Sprout Organic infant formula refrigerated for up to 24 hours. If you do pre-prep ensure that you shake it again thoroughly before serving to bub.

If your bub prefers a warm drink, you can place a filled bottle in a bowl of warm water and let it stand for a few minutes. You may also warm the bottle under running water. It is best not to heat the bottle by placing it in the microwave. Heating the formula in a microwave can lead to uneven heating, creating hot spots that could burn your little one’s mouth. Please discard any remaining formula at the end of each feeding if it has been more than an hour from the start of a feeding.

We would like to reassure you that we take very seriously the food safety of our products, and we do confirm that all the results available on Sprout Organic formulas are compliant to the Australian regulation regarding limits for all heavy metals, including arsenic.

Some tips that might help include:

- Trying to feed during a period of distraction like when walking in a pram or during a playful activity.

- Try heating the tip of the bottle to match the nipple and also slightly warming the formula.

- Use a syringe to dribble milk onto your bubs mouth which could help them get used to the new taste, and warm to taking to the bottle.

Yes! Lactose is a sugar found in milk/dairy products. Our infant formula is 100% plant-based, and therefore free of lactose. It's important to note however that lactose intolerance is different to cow’s milk protein allergy. If you are at all concerned if our formula is right for your baby, please contact your trusted health professional.

Yes! It is a requirement by Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) that all infant formulas sold in Australia and New Zealand are gluten free.
