Gold Coast, QLD (March 25, 2022) — Sprout Organic Pty Ltd (“Sprout” or the “Company”), The Queensland company behind the world’s first organic plant-based infant formula has been awarded with the World Food Innovation Award for ‘Best Children’s Product’ during a special ceremony in association with International Food and Drink Event in the UK. The judging panel considered 272 entries from 22 countries across 25 categories.
The demand for plant-based options in infant formula has remained unfulfilled for decades, with soy (a common allergen) being the only choice which is not recommended for infants under 6 months. Sprout Organic’s infant formula has come on the back of seven years of development and rigorous sourcing of high quality organic ingredients.
Manufacturing such a product in Australia has been a challenge. Australian infant nutrition standards are extremely high, in addition to being the only country in the world that places legal limits on certain undesired elements. This creates an environment that is highly restrictive in sourcing, but very beneficial to the end product.
“We’re incredibly honoured to receive this award,” said Sprout Founder, Sel Berdie. "It’s a true validation of the last seven years of hard work in developing such a needed product, and we are so pleased to be able to provide parents across the world with this choice."
FoodBev Media Marketing Executive, Jonathan McGowan, said: “We are delighted to celebrate the eight annual World Food Innovation Awards, this year in association with the International Food & Drink Event.”
“This year’s awards really showcase some of the most exciting new products and developments of the year and we want to say a huge congratulations to Sprout Organic for being successfully crowned as the winner of Best Children’s Product!”

For mums who are able, breastfeeding is best for babies. It delivers many benefits for both mum and baby and contains all the nutrients your little one needs to thrive. Maintaining a healthy diet during pregnancy and while breastfeeding is also important.
Please consult a health professional for appropriate feeding advice and support. Deciding to use formula either partially or exclusively may reduce your breast milk supply, and reversing this decision may be difficult. Please also consider the financial and social implications when deciding on a feeding method for your baby.
When preparing infant formula, always follow the feeding guide and directions carefully as improper use or incorrect preparation can make your baby unwell.
